Help stock the ‘Food Pantry” at Family Impact Center’s new building PDF Print E-mail

In preparation for the Family Impact Center’s Dedication Ceremony and Open House, volunteers and supporters are holding a weekend-long Food Drive to help stock the new Pantry shelves. Donations will be welcomed at three locations in Fowlerville on Saturday, September 11th and Sunday, September 12th.

Saturday, September 11th collection sites are:


Curtis Grocery: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wal-Mart: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Fowlerville Expo: 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.


Sunday, September 12th collection sites are:

Curtis Grocery: 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Wal-Mart: 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.


Items needed for donation include: non-perishable food (check expiration dates), cleaning items, personal products and paper products.


Fowlerville is fortunate to have both Family Impact Center and the dedicated board and staff who oversee the operation of the Center. Since opening in March of 2002, they have served over 1,500 individual families. Each month, over 5 tons of food is given out. Don’t miss this opportunity to partner with Family Impact Center as they serve our area.

A Dedication Ceremony is being planned for 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 26th, followed by an Open House until 4 p.m. The Center’s opening day of service will be Tuesday, September 28th.

 
Business Expo & Fun Fest being held September 11 in Fowlerville PDF Print E-mail

A party is planned that includes an expo, an extravaganza, a fun festival and a show all wrapped into one event. This event is called the Business Expo and Fun Fest.

It is open to the public and will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Fowlerville Junior High School campus. The cost to attend is right; it’s free.

Some of the things offered include music, petting zoo, bounce houses, hayrides, dunk tank, helicopters and fire trucks.


There is something to interest all ages. The Expo includes four areas; first is the Business Expo, second is the Back to School Fun Festival, third is the Fire Department's Public Safety Extravaganza and fourth is the Classic Auto Show.

Denby seeking second term in Michigan House of Representatives PDF Print E-mail



Cindy Denby is seeking a second two-year term in the Michigan House of Representatives. The Fowlerville legislator represents the 47th District which covers western Livingston County, the northern part of the county and the southern part (a horse-shoe shaped geography).


She was unopposed in the recent Republican Primary. Facing her in the November General Election is Democratic candidate Garry Post of Hamburg.

Webberville Community enjoys car show last week PDF Print E-mail


 
A car show sponsored by Moo Hoos Dairy Barn and Webberville Activities Committee had 70 classic cars and two motorcycles attend.  The Best in Show was won by Paul Ianchiou with his 57 Red Pearl Chevy.  The show was entertained by the Clasic Rock and Country band Streetwize.

 
Webberville Students to take the stage at national FFA convention PDF Print E-mail



When the lights are dimmed and hush descends upon an audience of more than 54,000 at the nation’s largest annual student convention this Oct. 20 through October 23, 2010, in Conseco Fieldhouse, Elizabeth Hale, Melissa Maher and Caitlin Weathers will share the spotlight in a musical performance that will inspire the crowd and provide memories to last a lifetime.


Hale, Maher and Weathers of the Webberville FFA Chapter have been selected to sing in the National FFA Chorus. The students submitted audition tapes and were among just 80 young people selected nationwide to be a member of the prestigious group.

Stronghold Quartest hosting 4th gospel concert on September 25 PDF Print E-mail

Stronghold Quartet will host its fourth gospel concert at the Fowlerville Performing Arts Center, 700 N. Grand St. in Fowlerville.

 
It will be presented Saturday, Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. Joining Stronghold will be the Tribute Quartet and The Down Home Horns. Don Byers, tenor for Stronghold shared that, “The aesthetic beauty of the Performing Arts Center is so appealing to Stronghold. It is a real joy to bring quality groups there! The March concert with The Dixie Melody Boys and The Journeymen brought a prestigious group to Fowlerville, and we’re excited to do so again with Tribute Boys and The Down Home Horns.”

Family Impact Center News PDF Print E-mail

Our Self-serve Food Pantry allows the opportunity for those in emergency situations to choose their own food/personal/cleaning items after calling for an appointment. Also available is clothing (including outerwear) for all ages. Are you in need of help or know of someone who is? Are you or your group interested in organizing a food drive? If so, please do not hesitate to call 517-223-4428.

We are still at our current location (165 Fowlerville Road, just north of Mason Rd.) but hope to be in our new building across from Fowlerville High School by late September. An anticipated date for our Open House is Sunday, September 26th.

Ladies Auxiliary hosting “Family Night” August 18th at VFW PDF Print E-mail

August 15, 2010

On Wednesday, August 18th the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 6464 will be hosting “Family Night.” The event will be held at the VFW Hall located at 215 Veterans Drive in Fowlerville from 4 pm until 7 pm.


The menu is simple: Hamburg or Hot Dog Basket, which includes French Fries and Cole Slaw, Beverage and Dessert. Cost of the Hamburg Basket is adults $6 and Kids $4. The Hotdog Basket is $4 for everyone.


Proceeds will help with Auxiliary expenses incurred when we do our various programs.

If Back to School shopping has you worn out, or it’s just too hot to cook come to the VFW for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a leisurely meal, catch up with your day and visit with friends while the kids participate in planned activities.

Relay for Life to hold yard sale on Saturday at Webberville Methodist PDF Print E-mail

On Saturday Aug. 14, 2010 10am-4pm many Relay for Life teams are coming together and holding a huge yard sale in the Webberville United Methodist Church parking lot on the corner of M-52 and Holt Rd.  Each team will have items for sale and all money raised will go to the 2011 Relay for Life.


Relay for Life Cookbooks will also be for sale for $10.00. These books contain yummy and simple recipes from local Webberville & Williamston residents and their families, and were created to support Relay for Life. 


Relay for Life supports the American Society, which has many programs to help cancer patients and their families along with cancer research. If your team would like to join this sale or if you have gentle used clothes or items you would like to donate to this sale please call Diane Miller at 521-0220 or Sue Douglas 521-3761 by Aug. 12.
